Knockout Stage[]
Six UEFA countries advanced to the knockout stage. Greece and Switzerland lost their matches leaving France, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium to contest the quarter finals. France's path matched them up with Germany with Netherlands also moving onto the semi finals. Germany won its semi final and went onto become the 2014 champions. Netherlands, after being runners-up in 2010, had to settle for third place.
